The Battery Town Rally Bay of Plenty returns on 30–31 October 2026, bringing some of New Zealand’s top rally teams and drivers to the Eastern Bay of Plenty for an action-packed weekend of motorsport.

For the first time in many years, the event will be based in Whakatāne. The weekend begins with with a Ceremonial Start on The Strand on Friday 30 Oct from 4-5.30pm. This free community event will give locals and visitors the opportunity to get up close to the rally cars, meet the teams and enjoy the atmosphere before the cars take to the ceremonial start ramp from 5.30pm.

The competition starts on Saturday, with approximately 162 kilometres of action across nine gravel stages throughout the Bay of Plenty. The rally will start and finish in Whakatāne, with three service breaks held in Kawerau throughout the day. 

It will be a fun event for the whole family, with everyone invited to come along, experience the excitement and give the teams a fantastic Eastern Bay of Plenty welcome.
